Last week Google’s GMAIL team released an extraordinary bit of data. I tweeted about it here and RTed it here from Glenn Irvine. Sure enough, Googlers confirmed it.
I think this number is amazing. 99.984 % up-time. That is G-mail was available 99.984% percent of the time.
For servers’ for a company so big, that constantly keeps creating new ideas, that is a huge metric.
Matt Cutts who is really search-side, but is kind of the face of Google too in tech web communities, does a great job explaining the big G. And dampening the inevitable perceived SEO Gold Rush by web devs, on the news like the latest on Google Places data.
Everyone bags Google. That’s the price of being number one. But really, Jason Toff and all the G-Mail team at Google is to be congratulated. What these guys did is pretty fantastic.
And hey G-mail and Google is virtually free right?
